Simple Machines
CHC Fall Semester 2023
What is a simple machine?
In this class we will be discussing the six basic simple machines:
-
Inclined Plane
-
Screw
-
Wheel and Axle
-
Wedge
-
Pulley
-
Lever

Simple machines make work easier. They have few or no moving parts and they work by changing the direction of a force or the amount of force needed to do something.
According to Brittanica:
A simple machine is any of several devices with few or no moving parts that are used to modify motion and the magnitude of a force in order to perform work.
The purpose of this site is to allow students to look ahead at what the class will entail, to review topics that were discussed, and to seek additional resources to dig deeper into a topic. Most of these additional resources will come in the form of YouTube videos.
This is a quick introductory video on simple machines. This video targets younger audiences.
